What Does the SGP Eat?

The Southern Giant Petrel is mostly a scavenger, eating seals and penguin carcasses, and foraging from the detritus left behind from large fishing boats.   During breeding season they nest near penguins or other birds that live in colonies and "borrow" food from them, sometimes even eating a few of their neighbours.
